Who would be the audience for your media product?

Ultimately, chart music has a large audience who dress in a way that is very current.

In terms of demographics, the age range is from 16-30 although other ages are exposed to this music as well. This is because chart music is played through nearly every source of entertainment such as phones, internet and radio. The class and religion of mainstreamers can vary significantly although they all have similar tastes in clothing ect.

I will be using the English language to start with, then going worldwide when its fully established in the UK. This would be done by having a base in another country such as America. This is because music charts differ from county to country but mainstream is a world wide occurrence. Considering the fact that my audience can vary so much, the amount of income they receive is also varied so I have decided to focus mainly on an average income which means I can access most of my audience.

In terms of psychographics, the audience will have very normal lifestyle, shopping in mainstream supermarkets such TESCO, listening to mainstream music stations such as Radio 1, KISS or Heart, watching movies in the cinema and well known films rather than low budget underground ones. This is why it is easy to understand what my audience wants to see in the magazine as it is whatever is well established and current.

I believe that this audience would buy Cloud 9 magazine because of how it addresses their needs and covers everything to do with the music they listen too such as clothes. Also, because of Cloud 9’s massive potential audience, there is enough that there should be no real competition in terms of low readership.

Ten different brands which I would encourage to advertise in the Cloud 9:

Adidas clothing- a well-established brand which is very mainstream and worldwide.

Topman clothing – a shop in which many mainstreamers go to to buy clothing similar to what music artists are currently wearing.

Gillette- as the magazine is predominantly male, Gillette will be accepted as it is a mainstream shaving brand.

Ebay/Amazon- a very mainstream source to get possible out of stock items due to high population buying.

Fast food- due to the fact my audience like to go out, fast food chains such as McDonalds are usually where they would go to eat.

Beer/other alcohol products- nearly every man likes to drink, e.g. Carlsberg-mainstream alcohol. Red bull- a male product in itself, very mainstream.

Xbox/PS3
- again a very mainstream product due to the fact many young men own one of the two consoles.
